          <datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">A cruise aboard the research vessel Shunyo-maru was carried out to investigate the distribution of fish schools and the ecology of the Pacific saury (Cololabis saira) in the Northeastern Sea of Japan from May 19 to June 1, 1981. Zooplankton samples were collected by horizontal tows with a Clarke Jet Net, 1 m below the surface. Copepods and Euphausiids were the dominant organisms in this area. Calanus pacificus, Paracalanus parvus, Clausocalanus spp. and Acartia clausi were important constituents of the copepod population. The composition of the copepod population differed between in the northern and in the southern part of the front formed by the northward branch of Kuroshio current, and biomass was larger in the northern part than in the southern part. Analysis of the gut contents of various sized fish collected with a High-speed Net showed that Copepods were the main food organisms of fish. Fish above 100 mm in body length fed upon a variety of organisms. The density of major food organisms in the samples of Copepoda collected with a Jet Net was low.</datacite:description>
          <datacite:description xml:lang="ja" descriptionType="Abstract">1981年5月19日から6月1日にかけてサンマ北上期魚群分布調査を行った際,ジェットネットを用いて表層性動物プランクトンを採集した.また,高速ネットで採集したサンマ稚幼魚の消化管内容物を観察し, 環境に出現する動物プランクトンと比較した.1) サンマ稚幼魚はすでに混合水域内の表層に形成された温度前線付近に集中して分布しており,今回の調査時期はサンマ北上前期から中期への移行期に相当する.2) この時期,表層に分布する主要な生物群は橈脚類とオキアミ類の幼生であった.また,現存量は前線の北側で夜間に多い.前線を境として橈脚類の種組成に頭著な違いがあった.3) 主要な消化管内出現種は小型の橈脚類である.また,同一定点で採集した標本でも発育段階によって組成が異なり,成長するに従って出現種数が多くなる傾向がある.消化管内容物の組成の変化と出現種数の増加は,幼魚後期(体長100~150mm)になると顕著である.4) 主要な消化管内出現種と環境に出現する動物プランクトンとの対応は低い.</datacite:description>
