The research field included two water areas, neighbouring area and inner area of the fishing harbour where adult shells of Meretrix lamarchii inhabited. Distribution density of juvenile shell in the neighbour area was greater than in the inner area. The range of medium granule size was between 1.0 and 1.7 mm, rate of silt weight was between 0 and 7.0 %, and ignittion loss was bwtween 0.5 and 2.5 % of sand. Though they juvenile shells in silt for thirty days in the rearing experiment, they avoided burrowing in the sand which contained silt more than 5 %.
