東シナ海・黄海産メイタガレイ類の比較研究(3) 成熟と季節による分布域の変化 松岡, 正信 松岡 正信 metadata only access A comparative examination on the two types of frog flounder, Pleuronichthys cornutus, "Honmeita" and "Bakemeita", in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea, was undertaken to clarify spawning season, maturation size and seasonal changes of distribution. Spawning season of "Honmeita" was considered to be from January to the middle of March and that of "Bakemeita" from February to the end of March. Spawning season of the two types overlapped from February to the middle of March. Maturation sizes of female and male "Honmeita", were approximately 190 mm and 180mm total length (TL), respectively. In "Bakemeita", both female and male maturation sizes were approximately 150mm TL. From these sizes, most of the two years old fishes of the two types were considered to be mature. In the East China Sea, "Honmeita" migrated toward the north during spring to summer and toward the south during autumn to winter. On the other hand, "Bakemeita" showed no conspicuous migration. From the results, the two types are distributed over a broadly overlapping area ranging from Lat. 28°N to 30°N during winter, although with little overlap during summer.
