Diploid chromosome number of 68 decapods from 26 famlies range from 64 to 376 (average 125). There is little information on the chromosome morphology and/or other karyological characteristics of this group except that their chromosomes are very small (not more than 4 µm). Sex-determining chromosomes have been reported only from one Galateidae and seven Grapsidae species.
