<dc:description>Engine tests were carried out with several mixing ratios of fuel between fish oil and diesel oil on a small high speed diesel engine. The results obtained from the combustion analysis were not influenced by the mixing ratio on combustion characteristics. Still the period of starting up was longer as the mixing ratio increased. Piston ring wear and carbon deposit in combustion chamber were increased with the mixing ratio of fish oil on the continuous operation test. Also, lubricating oil showed deterioration for some properties by using fuel blended fish oil. These appearances were more notable when the mixing ratio was made larger. It was showed that the combustion performance of fish oil could be sufficiently adapted as a fuel substitute for diesel engines. However, an engine is influenced by means of fish oil when the long continuous operation so that it needs cares to avoid troubles in the practical use of it.</dc:description>
</dc:description>
