A total of 294 ommastrephidae rhynchoteuthion paralarvae were collected by 146 available tows with three kinds of nets ; bongo nets (70cm mouth diameter) , larval nets (130cm mouth diameter) and large larval nets (200cm mouth diameter). The large larval net was less filtering efficient than the other two types of nets. Oblique or stepwise horizontal towing with bongo nets was the most efficient of the three nets for catching squid paralarvae.
