| 内容記述 | To examine the time-allocation in the fishing process of the sardine purse seine for Japanese sardine (Sardinops melanostictus) in the waters off southeastern Hokkaido, fishing operation data of a sample purse seine boat was examined. The fishing process usually consists of four subprocesses : 1) search and detect of a school, 2 )catching of detected school, 3)loading of catch onto carrier boats, and 4 ) preparing a net and other equipment for the next catch. In only three of 19 net shots, a sub-process of 5 ) waiting for the arrival of carrier boats was added to the previous four subprocesses. Average fishing time per shot was 254 minutes, and time-allocation among the five subprocesses was 34, 35, 23, 6, and 3%, respectively. As compared with that the time spent to catch and load in every shot were almost constant, searching time varied widely shot by shot. Searching time was inversely proportional to the number of schools and amount of catch preceding the search. This suggests that fishermen judged the local stock abundance from their recent catch and decided whether to move to another area or not. However, they might not select the school size because catch per shot which means a school size caught is not correlated with the searching time. | |||||||||||
