| 内容記述 | Changes in the gonadosomatic index (GSI), testicular developmental stage and serum levels of testosterone, 11-ketotestosterone, 17α, 20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one were examined during sexual maturation of the rearing male Japanese sardine Sardinops melanostictus. The low GSI gradually increased from September to December, followed by a sharp increase until its peak in March (3.8±0.6%). Based on testicular histology, males having immature testes with spermatogonia in September, thereafter began the meiotic phase of spermatogenesis. Although testes were fully filled with spermatozoa from February to April, actual spermiation involved the dilution with seminal plasma did not occur under the rearing condition. Fish showed highly correlated seasonal changes in the GSI and serum testosterone concentration. Testosterone levels were low during autumn, and increased rapidly in December, then the elevated levels were maintained during January to March (22.1-28.5ng/ml). The extremely low levels of 11-ketotestosterone showed no seasonal change. The serum 17α, 20β6-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one levels remained relatively low during September to January, but increased slightly in February (1.8±0.7ng/ml). In this study, the luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue (LHRH-A) was also tested for its effectiveness in milt production. All males receiving an administration of LHRH-A via cholesterol pellet implantation released a significant amount of milt after 48 hr when their abdomen was gently pressed. Serum 17α, 20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one level rapidly elevated until its peak (5.0±0.3ng/ml) at 24 hr after implantation, and became lower after 36 hr. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
