Inspite of passing the 4th winter, 86B still showed a distinct anticyclonic circulation and possessing subtropical characteristics in SAC during the summer of 1990. A homogeneous water, created during the wintertime convection, was modified in its T-S characteristics every year. However, after passing the 5th winter in 1991, T-S characteristics of the homogeneous water showed that the subtropical waters had been disappeared. To investigate the reason why 86B showed a long life span of over 5 years, the evolution of the geophysical properties in 86B were analyzed. Inspite of the decrease in the diameter of 86B, the vertical scale of WCR, recognized as the second deepest WCR in SAC since 1965, azimuthal velocity at the edge of WCR, and density differences from surrounding waters were not significantly decreased.
