Fluxes of DIN (dissolved inorganic nitrogen = NH4-N + NO3-N + NO2-N) and PO4-P were 3.0 ~ 64.8 mg · m-2 day-1 and-1.2 ~ 10.4 mg · m-2 day-1, respectively. High fluxes of the nutrients were recorded both in the northern part where it is shallow in depth and rich in organic matters in surface sediments and in the northeast part where it is poor in organic matters in surface sediments but abundant in macrobenthos. The flux of SiO2-Si ranged from 137 to 262 mg · m-2 . day-1, and was high in the northern and central parts where high concentrations of biogenic silica were recorded in sediments. Nutrient load due to regeneration from the sediment in whole Harima Nada based on the fluxes measured in this study was estimated to be 59 ton . day-1 for nitrogen, 5 ton . day-1 for phosphorus and 586 ton · day-1 for silica.
