Plankton samples were obtained at 105 stations with intervals of about 540 meters distance. The present paper describes the general outlines of this survey. A convergent zone was remarkably recognized near the Kuroshio front by the drift of the research vessel. This zone corresponded to the horizontal sharp gradient zone of temperature and salinity. In addition, the relation between the surface mixed layer and the euphotic zone of phytoplankton and the presence of grazing by zooplankton near the Kuroshio front are discussed. Furthermore, it is pointed out that the entrainment of coastal water and the upwelling may play important roles in maintaining the biological production in the sea near the Kuroshio front in winter, that is, in the period of convectional mixing of water.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"},{"subitem_description":"1983年3月9日潮岬沖の思潮前線付近において,調査船「蒼鷹丸」によって海洋構造とブラソクトンの徴細分布を調べるために,約540m間隔の観測が実施された。本報はその調査内容と微細分布の特徴と前線帯における海洋構造と基礎生産の関係について記述した。(1) 3月上旬の天候は冬季の北西季節風のために時化が多く,その推移も早かった。3月9日には高気圧圏に入り,弱い東寄りの風の吹く快晴であった。(2) 3月上旬の黒潮は四国沖で接岸し,紀伊半島沖から大蛇行して伊豆諸島近海を北上しており,遠州機には暖水塊が存在した。本州南方海城の黒潮流軸は2月下旬から離岸する傾向にあり,3月9日にはその傾向が強くなった。(3) 表面海流では,黒潮前線付近の強流帯で4ノット以上の流速が観測され,流れは全般に早かった。黒潮前線より内側域では,南流が卓越した。(4) 水温と塩分の水平傾度は潮目付近で大きく、そのうち最も大きい潮目はその幅約1~2kmの黒潮前線に相当し,水平傾度は水温約3℃,塩分約0.06%,現場密度0.64であった。現場密度は黒潮水帯で小さく,内側城で高い傾向があり,そして密度変化は主に水温に依存していた。(5) 水温と塩分の分布特性から,調査海域は次の4水带に大別された。沿岸水带(St.1~8),黒潮系暖水帯(St.11~32,約6海里),低温低塩分带(St.34~56,約6海里),黑潮水带(St.60~105)。(6) 黒潮水帯の中には沿岸水起源と推定される低塩分水が約5海里の幅で分布した。(7) クロロフィル濃度は沿岸水帯と黒潮系暖水帯で比較的少なく,低温低塩分帯と黒潮水帯で多かった。黒潮前線付近のクロロフィル濃度はその周辺海域よりも少なく、同時に動物プランクトンのピークと一致することから捕食の影響が示唆された。(8) 動物プランクトンの現存量は黒潮前線付近にピークがあり,黒湖水带では豊富で,前線より内側域では貧弱であった。クロロフィル濃度と動物プランクトンの徴細分布傾向からみると,200m~2km位の各種のスケールのパッチ状分布が観測された。(9) 表面の前線は黒潮流軸の約10海里内側に位置した。表面前線と流軸の間には小規模であるが顕著な湧昇ハターンが観測された。また,黒潮系暖水帯と低温低塩分帯の中層は概して湧昇の場であった。湧昇パターンは黒潮が離岸傾向にある時に顕在化する特徴があると考えられ,流軸の縁辺域,内側域や陸棚縁辺域に生ずる。(10) 冬季に発達する表屑混合層は黒潮前線付近から低温低塩分带と黒潮系暖水帯において植物プランクトンの有光層よりも浅いために,これらの水帯が基礎生産に適した海域であることが指摘された。(11)
