| 内容記述 | The mode of rigor mortis in seventeen kinds of fish was measured by modified Cutting's method. Fishes captured in a large set net were transferred into a live well and carried to the fish pier. The observation of rigor mortis started with fish killed by breaking the motor nerve. Anterior half of fish body was placed on a plane wooden board, suspending posterior half free in air. Distance between the level of the board and the base of tail was measured by a rectangle scale at a certain time interval. Rigor index was expressed from the readings of sag of tail by the formula; L-L'/ L × 100 where L is a sag value measured immediately after killing and L' is a sag value at a certain time during storage. It was shown clearly that in some fish rigor sets in quickly, while in others it does not, as it has already been pointed out by the previous works. And a tentative classification of the rigor patterns is proposed as follows: Type 1 This type will be appropriately termed as normal rigor form, since the fish in this type, represented by round herring or roundhead shark, show a sharp up-and-down curve from the setting-in of rigor to resolution. In addition this curve is characterized by coming back to an initial rigor index of 0 from the maximum value near 100. Type 2 This group is similar to Type 1, as far as the maximum rigor index is concerned, but differs with it in its unterminated resolution. Japanese jack mackerel, common mackerel, mackerel scade, trevally, Japanese sea bass, Japanese red gurnard, Japanese filefish, Pacific saury, flounder, dab, pelagic puffer belong to Type 2. Type 3 This type is fish with low rigor index as John Dory. Type 4 The exceptional feature of this group is the absence of resolution in rigor. Stargazer is the only example in present examination. Type 5 Angler is another exception, because of its entire lack of rigor mortis. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
