Since 1973, the mean density of the hake has been decreasing with the increase of catch and fishing effort. Natural mortality coefficient and catchability coefficient have been calculated as two pairs of values being 0.24 and 0.6 or 0.48 and 0.4 respectively. The reproduction curve is R₁=1.333 Ae⁻⁰·⁰⁰²⁹ᴬ or R₂=1.911 Ae⁻⁰·⁰⁰¹⁷ᴬ and the maximum sustainable yield is 198 × 10³ tons or 177 × 10³ tons for the two values of the natural mortality, where A is the abundance of adult hake and R the recruitment. The actual catch abundance is between half and one third of the MSY level and is distributed in the righthand area of SY curve.
