| 内容記述 | This study presents a new interpretation of variations in location of the First Oyashio Intrusion (FOI), a southward cold intrusion in the Pacific waters along the northeastern coast of Japan. The data used are monthly temperature readings taken at a depth of 100 m from 1964 through 1987. The FOI shows dominant interannual variations, but its southern limit tends to progress southward with stepwise changes in latitude. There are three characteristic hydrographic eras, i.e. (1) "northward-regression mode" years when the FOI remained at 39.7˚N on average, 1967-1972; (2) "southward-progression mode" years when the FOI extended to 37.8˚N on average, 1980-1987 ; (3) transition years, 1973-1979. Although some of the southward-progression mode years show a seasonal variation in the southern limit extending south from spring to summer i.e. a southward extension, this variation does not always appear because the interannual variations are dominant. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 1964-1987年の各月100m深水温分布図を基に,親潮第一貫入南限緯度の変動を調べた.その結果,(1)親潮第一貫入は,資料を扱った期間内では,1967年以降1987年まで長期的に南進傾向を示しているが,(2)実際には1967-1972年の“北退モード期”から1973-1979年の“移行期”を経て,1980年以降の“南進モード期”へと段階的に南進傾向を強めている事実を明らかにした.また,(2)“北退モード”あるいは“南進モード”のいずれの出現様式をとるかによって経月変動のパターンは年によって大きく異なり,(3)親潮第一貫入の南進·北退現象では経年変動が重要な意味を持っていることを指摘した. | |||||
