| 内容記述 | The responses of Neanthes virens larvae to light were studied in the laboratory during the stages from egg to benthi-pelagic nectochaete. Eggs and prototrochophores were indifferent to light. Metatrochophores and pelagic nectochaetes, which had larval eye spots and strong ciliation, were continuously and strongly photopositive or demonstrated positive photokinesis. Early benthi-pelagic nectochaetes oriented toward the vertically directed light, but away from the horizontally directed light. Late benthi-pelagic nectochaetes, in which the ciliation was degenerated and the parapodia developed, were indifferent to the vertically directed light but slightly photonegative to the horizontally directed light. Based on laboratory behavior, a hypothesis is suggested which could account for the ontogenetic migration of larvae in coastal waters. | |||||||||||
