About a half of the fish, however, was lost due to vibrio-disease at the beginning of the experiment. The best growth was obtained on the 30% chlorella diet followed by the 60% chlorella, control and SCP diets in the order. During June-July season effect of feeding frequency was examined. Twice a-day feeding brought about 1.09-1.26 times more growth rates than once-a-day feeding. From the end of July to September the effect of 4 % supplemental fish oil on the fish growth was compared with that of 8%. Scarce differences were obtained between the two levels. Lipid content of the trunk flesh was 14-15% in September and decreased to 1.8% in December. In the fatty acid (FA) composition 22 : 6 acids were 3.0-4.2% (∑ω3FA 10-11%) in September and increased to 13.2% (∑ω3 FA 22.1%) in December. The egg FA of the reared fish contained 1.9-4.1% of 18.3, 4.4% of 20: 5, and 14.8- 17.7% of 22 : 6 acids, while the wild fish egg 5.1%, 14.1%, and 9.2%, respectively.
