Four loci controlling three protein systems, that is leucine aminopeptidase (LAP), tetrazolium oxidase (TO) and muscle ptotein (MP), were examined. On the zymogram of LAP, six (P. fucata) or seven (P. albina) alleles were detected at the Lap1 locus and from four to six alleles were detected at the Lap2 locus in three species. TO bands showed the typical pattern of dimer and four alleles were observed at the To locus in all species. Of two zones of MP staining detected, the most anodal one could be analyzed. Two alleles at the Mp locus were described in P. fucata and P. maculata while the single band suggested monomorphism at this locus in P. albina. Interspecific differences were seen in MP and LAP pattern among three species, which can be use in identification of these species. Intraspecific variation in gene frequencies at four loci among some populations suggested geographical differentiation in P. fucata.
