Plasma protein dropped from 3.8 g (mean value of 10 fish) in September to 2.6g/dl (mean of 38 fish) at the spawning season. Total cholesterol also dropped in December, and significant correlations were observed between contents of cholesterol and protein as well as zinc and protein when the protein level dropped below 3 g/dl. In the spawning season total phosphorus showed a significant correlation with protein and it is expressed by the following equation. P (mg/dl)=11.8× Protein (g/dl)+3.4 (n=38, r=0.83) Calcium or magnesium showed higher correlation coefficient to phosphorus than to protein. In the spawning season sodium decreased from 4 mg to 3 mg/ml, and potassium increased with wide variations among individuals. Plasma constituents of the Amago salmon changed possibly in similar to the pattern of other salmons which die after spawning.
