The mantle tissues from the group of pearl oysters selected for white nacre in shell were transplanted into the host selected for white. The transplantation was also conducted in the group of oysters selected for yellow nacre in the same way. Yellow pearls were produced at higher rate in the later transplantation than in the former and the pearls produced from the later operation were significantly heavier than those from the former one. No significant difference was observed in the mortality of pearl oyster and the rate of low grade of pearls between two groups.
