Mucus and urine from pooled samples were also analysed for the contents. TE-N levels were varied from 297 mg/100 g tissue of ordinary muscle to 22 mg/100 ml of plasma in content. NRS-nitrogen accounted for 14-54% of TE-N and taurine-nitrogen for 0.3-43% of TE-N. The highest concentration of NRS was found in kidney, followed by spleen, intestine, heart, dark muscle, gill, liver, ordinary muscle, ovary, blood cell, skin, urine, plasma and mucus. Taurine was one of the most abundant NRS in various tissues except for ordinary muscle and plasma. The largest amount of taurine was present in spleen and the highest percentage in blood cell. Carnosine was major constituent in ordinary muscle but not in dark muscle.
