V. irradiation on the fish pathogenic viruses, bacteria and a fungus were studied, and usage of U. V .- Ozone water sterilizer for the disinfection of the pathogens in water was examined. 1. The cidal effect of U. V. was examined on virus suspension of IPNV, IHNV, OMV and cell suspension of Aeromonas salmonicida, Vibrio anguillarum and Vibrio ordalii. U. V. irradiation effective for 99.9% reduction of the infectivity was 1.5-2.0 × 105 for IPNV, 2.0 × 103 for IHNV, 1.4×103 μW.sec/cm2 for OMV and U. V. irradiation effective for killing of the viable cells was 3.4 × 103 for A. salmonicida, 2.9× 103 for V. anguillarum, 5.5× 103 μW·sec/cm2 for V. ordalii. All the pathogens except IPNV examined in this study showed high susceptibility to U. V. irradiation. 2. The punched agar medium disk covered with fungus hyphae was employed for the measurement of susceptibility to U. V. irradiation. Saprolegnia sp. showed very low susceptibility to U. V .. 3. The disinfectant effect of U. V .- Ozone water sterilizer was examined on viruses and bacteria in water. IPNV was resistant at flow rate of 3 l/min. (161,600 μW·sec/cm2+Ozone) but IHNV and OMV were inactivated perfectly at 15 l/min. (32,300 /W·sec/cm2) by the irradiation of U. V. only. Three species of bacteria were also destroyed perfectly at 25 l/min.
