For each race, three groups ( Yamato, 6.7±0.9g and Mirror, 5.7±1.1g) were fed a commercial diet four times daily, and six days weekly. The daily amounts of the diet were fixed at 8% of the initial body weight throughout the test period. Yamato showed better growth rate and feed efficiency than those of Mirror. The daily specific growth rate and feed efficiency of Yamato were 2.91% and 94.4%, respectively, while those of Mirror were 2.38% and 65.7%. After the feeding trial, 10 fish from each group were taken for proximate analyses. Contents of crude fat and ash of two races were significantly different (p<0.01), however, differences of protein and moisture contents were not significant (p>0.01). Correlation between crude fat content and moisture content was significant in both races (p<0.01). From relationship between crude fat (x) and moisture (y) contents, following regression equations are obtained; Yamato: y=80.7-0.88x, r =- 0.79, Mirror: y=82.5- 1.40x, r =- 0.68.
