E2 was orally administrated to juvenile flounder for a period from 56 to 90 days after hatching at concentration of 0-100 µg/g diet. The average total length of the fish in each group at start and end of the treatment were 19.3 mm and 61.8-94.6 mm, respectively. At age 116 days, all the fish were sampled to examine the sex ratio and the development of gonads. Higher percentages of female (58%, 58%) were observed in the groups treated with E2 at the dose of 0.1 µg/g diet compared with those of control groups (0%, 38%). In the groups treated with more than 1µg/g diet, all the fishes examined were female. However, sterilized ovaries and hyperplasia of connective tissue around the gonads were found in the fish treated with high doses of E2. High mortalities were also seen in the groups treated with 100 µg/g diet of E2.
