A significant (P<0.05) increase in Vg concentration in the sera was observed for 48 h in early vitellogenic prawns injected with thoracic ganglion extracts prepared from vitellogenic females compared to those with abdominal ganglion extract and saline. This result indicates that Vg synthesis and/or release into the haemolymph can be induced by injection of thoracic ganglion extract prepared from vitellogenic females.
