| 内容記述 | Effects of winds on currents were studied in Hazama-ura creek, Gokasho Bay from 22 May to 30 July 1991. Fluctuations of currents were investigated by measuring at the depths of 5, 9 and 13 m. It was observed that there existed current fluctuations with periods of 3-5 days. The principal component analysis for the wind vector data obtained at Toba was applied to detect the prevailing direction of winds. The first and second principal components indicated that the directions of prevailing winds were south-southeastward, and east-northeastward, respectively. It was found that the fluctuations of currents in the upper layer correlated either negatively or positively with the south-southeastward component of wind vectors i.e., negative correlations appeared when density stratifications of sea water near the sea surface were strong, while positive ones occurred when they were weak. Currents in the upper layer were delayed more than 20 hours as an influence from the east-northeastward component of the wind vectors. | |||||
