Exposure to acidic water decreased plasma sodium levels of the trout in dose-depending manner, and Na+, K+-ATPase activity showed a transient increase only at pH 4.0. Regression analysis showed a significant positive relationship between environmental pH and plasma sodium levels. At pH 4.5, there was a decrease in plasma sodium and an increase in plasma cortisol levels, while plasma IgM levels did not show significant change.
