To clarify the influence of salinity on vitality of the clams, the ciliary activity of excised gill tissue, filtration rate by using Neutral red solution and mortality, with various dilute sea water were performed. During the course of experiments, it became apparent that the suitable salinity for the clams were from 3.5 to 10.5‰, with lower limit of 0.3‰ and upper limit of about 21‰.
