| 内容記述 | A new quantitative echo-sounder has been developed. The sounder is designed to be of multipurpose, accurate, and practical. It is used for various fish stock estimations, such as echo-counting, target strength (TS) measurement in situ, volume estimation of individual schools, estimation of density in schools, and mean back-scattering strength (SV) estimation. To get high accuracy we select a rather low frequency of 25 or 28 kHz, while by using simultaneously another high frequency of 100 kHz we are able to realize high resolution and to know the frequency dependence of TS or SV. A stepwise recording method adopted enables us to read the absolute echo level from the record and we can directly and easily estimate TS or SV in school. The field test confirmed the practicality and effectiveness of the sounder. An estimate of fish length by measured TS was 18 cm and the mean length by sampled fish was 18.9cm. The frequency dependence of scattering which was sometimes observed gave information for identification of target. | |||||
