| 内容記述 | The changes of heart rate were studied in Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) when exposed to light stimuli. We examined the electrocardiogram (ECG) of Japanese flounder exposed to light, to determine the physiological effects on fish. ECGs under the light stimulus were recorded from dark adapted fish. We noticed decreased heart rate at first, and then gradual increase of the heart rate according to the time elapsed after turning on the light. On the other hand, the same experiment was carried out for the sand burrowing fish. Heart rate changed very little or did not change in 30 min light stimuli. This suggests that sand burrowing of Japanese flounder is important factor to decrease the environmental stress. Also, measurement of the heart rate is an appropriate means to monitor environmental stress under different conditions. | |||||||||
