In the unified theory, the formulae of three-dimensional parts in the velocity potential are complex expressions needing numerical integration. However Matsunaga and Maruo, in their analysis of the interpolation theory, showed that the low speed assumption U= O(ε1/2) derived the much simpler expressions for the three-dimensional parts. The author modified the three dimensional parts of the unified theory for ease in calculations by making use of the results of their analysis and extended it to the radiation problems of catamarans.
