Through this experimental study, it was proved that the wave pressure exerted on the upright section of the breakwater was influenced by the depth above the submerged mound, hc, and the distance from the front of the upright section to the top berm of the submerged mound, l'. Therefore, enough distance and an appropriate height of the submerged mound must be determined to expect the wave pressure reduction. To be concrete, l' most be more than 0.2~0.25L (L: wave length) in the case of hc = 0~0.25h (h: water depth), and the distance more than 0.48L is necessary in case htat hc is equal to 0.5h.
