| 内容記述 | The distribution and species composition of deep-sea chondrichthyans in the waters around the Okinawa Islands were studied from 125 fishing operations, taken by 55259 hooks, on bottom longlines at depths from 210m to 1250m. At least 35 species and 25 genera from 11 families of chondrichthyans were represented among 3285 specimens. The family Squalidae was dominant, contributing 91.1% of all chondrichthyans captured with 17 species. Dominant genera were Squalus (33.0%), Centrophorus (29.0%), Etmopterus (26.6%), and Galeus (3.9%). The most varied composition, with many species of the Squalidae, occurred at a depth of 500m. There was a marked decrease in number of species with increasing depth strata from 500m (the most varied composition depth). Catchrates (number of fish per 100 hooks) by depth were greatest (10.67) at 1100-1199 m and the second highest (10.37) at 400-499m, while the lowest rate was 2.70 at 700-799m. The sharks of Etmopterus and Centrophorus displayed a well defined pattern of depth segregation by species. Differences in faunal ecology among locations and the patterns of faunal change with increasing depth are also discussed. | |||||||||||
