| 内容記述 | Three species of juvenile abalone Haliotis discus hannai, H. discus and hybrid between these two species (H. discus hannai ♀ × H. discus ♂) were reared using plastic cages set in the warm sea of south Japan and indoor tanks controlled at 20 and 25℃, in order to make clear the influence of high temperature to the growth rate and survival rate of these three species. H. discus hannai which are distributed in the cold north Japan showed higher growth rate and higher survival rate than the southern species, H. discus, on both indoor and natural sea culture experiments. H. discus reared in the natural sea had a high mortality during the period from the end of September to early December when the sea water temperature was between 20 and 24°C. The percentage of dead shells during this period was 63.1 of the total dead shells throughout the experiment. From the results of the rearing experiment in the sea, the seasonal growth pattern of the hybrid resembled closely that of H. discus. However, the seasonal change of survival rate was similar to H. discus hannai. It became conclusively clear that the most suitable species as artificial seed for aquaculture not for stocking in the southern area is H. discus hannai. | |||||
