Data : 70 mm black and white film of East China Sea taken by LANDSAT 3 on May 25, 1982 and KER data of chlorophyll concentration of May 26~31, 1982. The latter was obtained by continuous measurement of water layers down to a depth of 5 m using Turner 111 fluorometer. The grades of brightness of the 70 mm film offered by RESTEC (Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan) was converted into numerical figures using a microscope and a photometer. The coefficient of correlation between the in situ measurement of the chlorophyll concentration and the brightness of the LANDSAT 3 film is 0.83.
