As a part of the whole study, the temporal and spatial changes of the demersal fish fauna are important for the ecological study as a primary information. Based on the WILLIAMS' method for the analysis of three-dimensional data (site × species × time), catch records of experimental operations gathered with a type of beam trawl were analysed. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1) The whole area is divided based on the difference in the species composition of fish assemblage. Area A: a zonal area along the southern coast of the bay and Oura Inlet located in the northeastern part of the bay. Area B : a zonal area from the bay head through the central region to the bay entrance. Area C: a small area around Station 3 in the innermost part of the bay. Area D: a coastal small area on the east side of Takeshima Is. Furthermore both Areas A and B can be divided into two sub-areas: the entrance side and the head side of each area, named A1, A2, B1, B2 respectively. 2) These areas can be characterized by the environmental condition. Area A is a region often occupied by the open sea water and its bottom sediments are relatively coarse. In contrast, Area B has a silty bottom and is often affected by a fresh water inflow from the Kakebuchi River. Sub-areas A, and B1 within each area are regions with the higher embayment degree than A2 and B2 respectively. Area C has a very coarse bottom environed by a silty bottom. Area D is distinctive from the other areas for being located within a dense Zostera belt. 3) Classifying species based on the difference in catch among the sampling stations, two groups can be discriminated from each other. The first is inhabiting Area A at a high density and the other is living densely in Area B. 4) Classifying dates based on the difference in the species composition among the sampling times, five periods are discriminated from one another. Two of them are the seasons when the species composition keeps a stable state and the others are the transitional seasons between them. The formers are periods from late June to late August and that from early February to mid-March, and the latters are from late August to early September, mid-December and late May. 5) Taking into consideration the seasonal changes in the alternation of species, the species equitability and the number of the species occurring, the change in the species composition during the period before and after early September seems to be the reflection of the fluctuations in the species equitability caused by the extreme increase and decrease in population size of a few species.
