| 内容記述 | We described the reproductive characteristics of yellow sea bream, Dentex tumifrons in the East China Sea in addition to our recent findings on the spawning season, spawning frequency and batch fecundity of this species. The spawning season of yellow sea bream in the East China Sea is thought to occur twice a year, in spring and autumn, and a female would spawn once during each season, respectively. Our time course sampling showed that yellow sea bream had a regular ovarian maturation cycle and a specific ovulation time of the day. Seasonal change in the ovarian condition of adult specimens suggested that the spawning season of yellow sea bream in the East China Sea occurred throughout almost of the year with higher occurrences of daily spawning fish found in spring and autumn. The estimated batch fecundity of females with mature oocytes was similar to that estimated about 30 years ago. These findings suggest that the annual egg production of yellow sea bream in the East China Sea is much higher than that previously thought. | |||||
