内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The present paper deals with the recent progress and relevant factors of the fishing industry in USSR. Soviet Union has made a distinctive progress in fishing industry for the last two decades, and she has become a country with the largest amount of marine products among the world. In Soviet Union a greater emphasis has been placed in recent years on fishes from the point of view of increased supply for domestic consumption of animal protein with high quality. Fisheries are now important, as well as basic industry in the Soviet economy providing with approximately one-third of the total annual protein consumed in the state. The major factors which affected the development of fishing industry in this country were: first, the large investments in distant-water fleets; second, the introduction of flotilla fishing system including a team of trawlers accompanied by freezing and processing vessels; third, the creation of large marine research organizations and extensive application of the research and experimental issues into fishing industry; and fourth, expansion of fishing operations into all over the world's oceans and fishing grounds. In parallel with the promotion of distant-water fishing, the Soviet Union has paid a significant effort for the development of marine fish processing industry and in increasing the percentage of marine fishes disposed for food processing to the total fishing products. Since the recent emergence of 200 miles system, the growth rate of the total fishing production seems to have been reduced to a considerable extent, as the result, more efforts have become to be paid for inshore fisheries, pond fisheries, fish farming, and for the improvement of quality and efficiency of fish processing. Based on the above consideration, it may be stated that the Soviet fishing industry has now shifted to a new stage of quality and efficiency from the former stage of rapid, quantitative expansion.
