The method was applied to fork length (FL) measurements of yellow sea bream Dentex tumifrons, landed at Shimonoseki Port fish wholesale market. The estimated mesurement, FLic was taken from two measurement lines. Applying FLic, the measurement accuracy increased significantly on individuals of FL<20cm. For individuals of FL<17cm, FLic was insufficiently acurate, because the fish were not all aligned pararell to the long sides of the container (expressed as \"inclination\"). Two correcting functions, FLic1=FLic(0.902+0.08591) (I<1.1) and FLeic2=FLic(0.581+0.4261) (I≧1.1) were taken using an index of fish inclination I. Market surveys were carried out ten timesfrom 1998 to 2002. In total, FLic were measured on 2938 individuals from 367 images. The mean FL (FLN) for each size class N (Number of individuals putting in a container) was closely simulated by an allometry function, FLN=67.1N-338. Using the von Bertalanffy growth model, monthly age-size class key was constructed for ages one to six or more.
