Seatsonal changes in the gonadosomatic index (GSI), ovarian developmental stage, and serum levels of vitellogenin, estradiol-17β(E2) and testosterone in the rearing female Japanese sardine Sardinops melanostictus were examined at intervals of about one month from September 1988 to April 1989. The low GSI (0.46±0.04) gradually increased from September to December, followed by a sharp increase to the peak in March (4.09±0.47). In correlation with the change in GSI, the immature ovary underwent previtellogenic growth from September through November and thereafter began vitellogenic growth until March. Vitellogenin was first detected in some females in October, and the levels attained a peak of 1939 ± 466 µg/ml in March, corresponding to the change in GSI. Serum E2 was maintained at a high level during vitellogenesis in winter. Testosterone concentrations were extremely low (below 202 pg/ml) and scarcely varied during the study period. These results suggest that there are seasonal changes in both vitellogenin and E2 being associated with ovarian development in the rearing female Japanese sardine. |

飼育下における雌マイワシの生殖腺体指数(GSI),卵巣の組織学的観察,血中ビテロジェニン,エストラジオール-17βおよびテストステロン濃度の測定を1988年9月から1989年4月にかけて各月行い,それらの季節的変化を調べた.GSIは9月には低い値(0.46±0.04)を示したが,その後12月にかけて緩やかに増加した。GSIの急激な増加は12月から3月にかけて見られ,3月にピーク(4.09±0.47)に達した後4月には減少した.組織学的な観察から,9月から12月にかけて卵母細胞は周辺仁期,卵黄胞期(または油球期)の発達をとげ,主として12月以降3月にかけて卵黄形成が見られた.血中のビテロジェニンは,10月に採集した一部の個体で最初に検出された後,そのレベルはGSIの推移とよく一致した変化を示した.エストラジオール-17βの血中値は,ビテロジェニン濃度の上昇にあわせて高い値をとり,本種においても肝臓でのビテロジェニン合成を調節することが示唆された.一方,テストステロン濃度は終始低い値をとり,季節的な変化は示さなかった。これらの結果から,飼育下においても,本種の卵巣は季節的な発達を行い,それにあわせて血中エストラジオール-17βおよびビテロジェニン値が変化することが示された。 |
