| 内容記述 | To study the biology of flatfish distributed in high-latitude regions around the Japan Islands, the spawning season of Pleuronectid flatfish was examined. Data for each species were obtained from the literature and field investigation of the gonads of adult fish. Local variations in the time of spawning for species such as Hippoglossoides dubius, Lepidopsetta mochigarei, Pseudopleuronectes herzensteini, Limanda schrenki, Platichthys stellatus and Platichthys bicoloratus was noted. Delayed spawning was observed in the waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean, including Rausu, Nemuro Bay, Akkeshi Bay and Kushiro. This geographical variation may have been due to differences in the environments of the spawning grounds, particulary with regard to water temperature. | |||||||||||
