| 内容記述 | We examined the stomach contents of Todarodes pacificus caught off Shimane Peninsula and the Oki Islands by squid jiggers set on commercial vessels from March to May in 1996. This study aims to examine at what age are T. pacificus cannibalized most abundantly by their own species. The age of individuals cannibalized was determined from the daily growth increments in statoliths that were picked out from stomach contents of the specimens. The ranges of mantle length for the specimens caught in March, April, May were 140-222 mm, 156-225 mm, 128-177 mm respectively, and 30-50% of the samples had cannibalized smaller T. pacificus. From the daily growth increments in statoliths, cannibalized individuals were estimated to be of an age from 80 to 120 days after hatching. | |||||||||||||||||
