| 内容記述 | It is well known that the eggs of Sardinops melanosticta, Konosirus punctatus and Harengula zunasi are very similar to one another and distributed at the same time in the same area. However, no available study has been carried out about taxonomical characters of the three kinds of eggs, except that the relation of oil globule diameter to size of segmentation in the yolk is useful in distinguishing a sardine egg from a gizzard shad egg. In consequence, the difficulty of identification of the three kinds of eggs has remained and impeded some ecological studies at the early stages of the three species. In the present paper, six characters were estimated on every embryonic stage of an egg in order to definitely distinguish the three similar eggs. As a result, the following characters are available for distinguishing the three eggs. Main character : relation of the size of segmentaion to oil globule diameter in the yolk and width of the perivitelline space, Subsidiary character: position and size of the oil globule in the yolk, and strength of the egg membrane, Special character : surface structure of the egg membrane. | |||||||||||||||||
