| 内容記述 | The egg of the Pacific mackerel, S. japonicus H. and a similar egg which is presumed as that of the long-fin pollack, Laemonema longipes SCHMIDT, are found at the same time in the coastal side of the main stream of the Kuroshio near the Kanto District, central Japan. The both eggs have been distinguished by the difference of melanophores on the surface of the embryo in the developed stages. In the earlier stages (A-Ba), however, the melanophores do not appear at all and it is difficult to distinguish these two species. Detailed observation on the development and meristic measurements of the both eggs were carried out to find some morphological characters of the eggs in this study. As a result, the following characters can be available for discriminating the both eggs in addition to the difference of the melanophores. Main character: presence of a thin film in the perivitelline space, Subsidiary character: presence of an extrusion of a part of the oil globule from the yolk, and width of the perivitelline space, Special character: structure of the egg membrane. | |||||||||||||||||
