| 内容記述 | As the result of close examination of squids exploited from the New Zealand waters (which were collectively treated under the name of Nototodarus sloani sloani in most of fishery-biological papers hitherto published), it was revealed that they can be classified into two types based on the morphology of hectocotylized arm and sucker counts of other arms. The males of the Type I is further divisible into Ia and Ib based on number of small suckers on the right Arm IV (6-13 in Ia and 49-95 in Ib). This character is synchronized with proportional difference in tentacular club, viz. club length index for Ia is over 50 and Ib, under 50. Therefore, this index is applicable for segregating females into Ia and Ib. In comparing the Type II with identified specimens of Nototodarus gouldi fished in the Bass Strait region, it is concluded that both of them are identical with each other. The measurements on the holotype specimen of "Ommastrephes sloanii" in the British Museum (Natural History) lead us conclude that the Type Ib is most probably identical with N. sloani. It is incoclusive yet what Ia will be. The more detailed statistic analysis on the materials from more extensive geographical coverage are badly needed for clearer understanding of their identity. | |||||

| 内容記述 | ニュージーランド近海で漁獲され,これまで多くの漁業生物学的研究論文において専ら Nototodarus sloani sloani として扱われていたイカは,雄の交接腕の形態と吸盤数の相違からI型とⅡ型の2型に分けられた。更にⅠ型の雄は右N腕の小吸盤数の相違からIa型(6-13個)とIb型(49-95個)に分けられたが,Ia型の触腕掌部長は外套長の50%以上, Ib型では50%未満であることと一致するので,この特徴により交接腕の形質が利用出来ない雌の型分離が可能である。Ia型はニュージーランド東方のメルヌーバンク及び南島北西岸に多く,Ib型は南島バンクス半島水域を主分布域とし,更にⅡ型は北島西岸に頻度が高いという地域理的分布の差異もある。Ⅱ型を近年開発されたバス海峡(タスマニア周辺)から漁獲された Nototodarus gouldi と比較した結果両者は同一種と判定された。また,大英自然史博物館 に保存されている GRAY の"Ommastrephes sloanii"の模式標本の触腕掌部の測定値から,Ib型が N.sloani であると判定されるが,Ia型が何れの種に査定され得るのかまたⅠ型中の種内変異によるものかを明らかにするには更に広範囲に資料を収集し,精密な統計的処理を行なう必要がある。 | |||||
