内容記述 | The value for oxygen consumption for Haliotis discus hannai, which is the most heavily harvested abalone on the northeastern Japanese coast, was determined by the Winkler technique under six different temperature conditions for five body sizes from young to adult. The following results were obtained: 1. The quantitative relationship of oxygen consumption as it related to body weight and ambient temperature could be expressed by the following formula, R = M . Wb. AT where R is the oxygen consumption rate in milli-liters of oxygen per individual per hour, W is the wet weight of whole body in grams, T is the ambient temperature in degrees C. and M, b, and A are constants. For H. discus hannai 0.0210 as M, 0.8025 as b, and 1.0963 as A provided. 2. The quantitative relationship between oxygen consumption and body weight is commonly formularized by R=k.Wb for animals. Great variations exist in the value for coefficient b. Some investigators have suggested a common value for b of about 0.8, i.e., 0.75 for poikilothermal animal (Hemmingsen 1960) and 0.8 for fish (Winberg 1956). We also obtained 0.80 for b. These results may suggest that a common physiological mechanism, where b is about 0.8, exists in the relation of oxygen consumption to body size. 3. The Q10 value for this species derived from the above equation is 2.5078. This value is independent of temperature and body weight between 8 to 20˚C. 4. There appears to be a clear indication of circadian rhythms in the oxygen consumption rate, which incease from dusk to midnight and decrease from midnight to midday. These facts show that the time of active movement is not during the entire dark period. 5. The relation of oxygen consumption to temperature has a physiological changing point between 20 to 24˚C which agrees with the highest water temperature inhabited by this species in the field. | |||||

R = M・Wb・AT ここで M=0.0210, b=0.8025,A=1.0963. 3. エゾアワビの酸素消費量と温度との関係から,エゾアワビの代謝機能の生理的屈曲点は,20~24℃の範囲にあり,24℃以上では酸素消費量は増加しない。 | |||||
