内容記述 Daily primary productivity was estimated from three different time durations (8, 13.5 and 24 hour) using the 13C method in Oyashio water in October 1992. Samples collected from the sea surface were passed through a 335 μm net and inoculated with sodium bicarbonate labeled 13C at 4a.m. Every incubation was carried out in 2.8 l polycarbonate bottles and bottles were placed in a on-deck tank with running seawater. Chlorophyll-a and nutrient concentrations of the samples were measured before and after the incubation. Chlorophyll-a concentrations of particulates larger than 10 μm or 2 μm in the sample were also measured and the ratio of them to the total chlorophyll-a concentration were calculated. Daily primary productivity was estimated from the ratio of photons received during incubation to that during a day. Chlorophyll-a concentration and its proportion changed little during incubation. Nutrients also changed little. Daily primary productivity estimated from 8 hour incubation was nearly the same as from the 24 hour incubation, but the value for the 13.5 hour incubation was about twice that of the 24 hour incubation. These results suggest that 24 hour incubation method is useful in estimating daily primary productivity if the following conditions are considered : 1) use transparent plastic bottle as large as possible for incubation 2) wash incubation bottles and samplers using clean techniques 3) confirm that change of incubation condition index such as chlorophyll-a, nutrients or composition of phytoplankton community were little during incubation.
