| 内容記述 | The main method of calculating growth equations of fishes is by estimation using the otolith ring radii. However there is little information on the accuracy of this method. The growth equation estimated from the method of non-linear least squares is nearly practice. Therefore, in this paper I compared growth equations estimated from otolith ring radii with those from the method of nonlinear least squares, using the Japanese flounder Pleuronectes yokohamae GÜNTHER sampled in the Fukushima region. Equations obtained are as follows. Estimated by otolith ring radii Male : SLt=290.59 (1-e-0.546 (t +0.150)) (N=465) Female : SLt=410.66 (1-e-0.340 (t-0.129)) (N=462) Estimated by non-linear least squares Male : SLt=436.69 (1-e-0.184 (t +1.656)) (N=466) Female : SLt=426.69 (1-e-0.350 (t +0.297)) (N=463) SLt : standard length in mm at age t years. Growth of this species estimated from otolith ring radii was less than that estimated by the method of non-linear least squares. The difference of growth measurements between the two equations suggests that there is a difference in the rate of growth between age groups and there are errors in the measurement of otolith ring radii. | |||||||
