内容記述 | In the present work the results of the survey on the settlement of attaching organisms with respect to the season was carried out from June 1951 to September 1952 in Onagawa Bay and Matsushima Bay. Slate plates of 590 cm2 were used as collectors for the organisms; these were hung from a oyster-raft and suspended in the sea at the respective depths of 1, 3, 5 m in both vertical and horizontal positions. As a result, it was found that attaching organisms are more abundant specially in Matsushima Bay than in Onagawa Bay, but are less in quantity. The season of settling of the chief organisms are as follows: Onagawa Bay Matsushima Bay Simple ascidia VI~VIII, X VI~VIII Compound ascidia VI~XI VI~VIII Balanus VI~X VII~VIII Mytilus edulis VI~VII, X VI~VII Ostrea gigas IX~X VII~X Anomia lischke --- VI~VII Brachidontes senhousea --- XI~XII Bryozoa VI~X VI~X Spirorbis sp. V~XI VI~X Serpula sp. VII~XI VII~X Sponges --- VIII~X Enteromorpha VI~XII IX From late autumn to early spring, aboundant Diatoms grow on the plate surface, most of them forming colonies. Among them, Navicula grevillei, Licmophora flabellata and L. abbreviata were dominat or predominant in Onagawa Bay. They increase from November to January and decrease temporally in February, then increase again to April and after May decrease gradually. In Matsushima Bay, Diatoms are very few in quantity and no such change in growths were observed as in Onagawa Bay. The difference in quantity and the settling seasons of the Diatoms in the two bays seem to be one of the factors causing the difference of oyster fattening in the two bays. Among the attaching organisms, noteworthy for their damage to the oyster culture are, Compound ascidia, Balanus and Mytilus edulis in Onagawa Bay, Compound ascidia and oyster spat in Matsushima Bay. Especially the compound ascidians grow very rapidly on the surface of the collector, often becoming so dense as to almost cover the whole surface. The ascidia encrust the surface as they grow and almost choke the oyster spats and other small organisms. |
