内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In a 4-week feeding study using swim-up fry of chum salmon, isonitorogenous substitution of white fish meal with either 5% earthworm or krill meal (45% crude protein in total) improved growth of the fish and substitution of feed oil with 5% beef tallow (10% fat in total) did not show any ill effect under the water temperature of 15°C. However, fish fed a commercially available feed for trout with approximately 50% crude protein and 5% fat levels achieved the best growth rate (523% weight gain in 4 weeks) in all treatments. Total fat content in the diets significantly (P<0.05) affected lipid content in the whole body of the fish, but dietary protein level and substitution of feed oil with tallow showed no significant effect on the contents of protein and lipid, respectively in the whole body of the fish. Fish which were transfered directly into seawater (33.5‰) and starved after completion of the feeding study showed various rates (1.6-18.6%) of mortality in the first week depending on the previous dietary treatment, but almost all of the fish from all dietary groups died by the end of 4th week. A highly significant (p<0.01) correlation between protein content in the body and survival during starvation was recognized. Although the body size at the beginning of the starvation had a significant (P<0.05) correlation with survival only during the first week, correlation coefficients between condition factor or fat content and the survival were extremely poor through the whole period. Whereas, the fat content of the fish in the 4th week of starvation showed a positive significant (P<0.05) correlation with cumulative mortality for 3 weeks. These results indicate that survival during starvation in seawater is affected with the previous dietary history and it can be improved by deposition of higher level of body protein. Shortage in available energy in the body may not be responsible for the mortality during starvation in seawater.
