内容記述 Effect of temperature on the humoral immune response of the rock fish, Sebastiscus marmoratus immunized with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) was studied. At low temperatures (8-10℃) both antibody production and plaque-forming cell (PFC) response were markedly inhibited compared to those of controls (23°C), as it was observed by a delayed peak response of antibody production and lower titers. However, in the experiment in which the immunized fish had been kept for 3 weeks at optimum temperature (23℃) and then transferred to the low temperature (10°C) after the peak response, the fish showed the same titer with those at the optimum temperature. When the fish had been kept at optimum temperature for more than 4 days after the antigenic stimulation and then transferred to the low temperature (8℃) before or after the apperance of the first circulating antibodies and PFCs, these fish showed a rise of antibody titer but the maximum titer was lower compared to those at the optimum temperature. On the other hand, when the immunized fish which had been kept at low temperature were transferred to the optimum temperature 10 days after the immunization, the latent period was shortened by two days and the maximum titer was unaffected. From these results it was considered that the temperature-sensitive period situated between the 3rd and 4th day after the antigenic stimulation and that synthesis of antibody and the release into the blood were temperature-independent.
